The Greater Long Island Running Club will be awarding one or more grants
in the amount of $5000 to a selected high school track & field/cross country
program or programs. Any high school in either Nassau or Suffolk County is
eligible to be awarded a grant.
The grant must be used to help subsidize the high school program in ways
such as purchasing new equipment, paying for travel costs to competitions, for
shoes/uniform accessories, or in any other way that will have a direct positive
impact on the program.
Selection of the winning high school program or programs will be based on a
combination of factors, including the need of the school, the purpose for which
the grant would be used, the benefit to the program and the student/athletes
who are part of the program, and the benefit to the community of which the
high school is a part.
Your School is cordially invited to submit your proposal for the grant on the
enclosed form. Feel free to add additional pages as you see necessary. To be

REGISTRATION FOR 2017 SAYVILLE RUNNING COMPANY 10 MILE RUN TO THE BLUE POINT BREWERY TO OPEN ON OCTOBER 19TH
The 7th Annual edition of the Sayville Running Company 10 Mile Run to the Blue Point Brewery will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Online registration will open on Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00 PM. After 600 people have registered on the evening of the 19th, registration will be suspended and then resumed on Saturday, October 22nd at 12:00 Noon, at which time 600 additional registrations will be accepted.
We have moved to a new race registration provider, RunSignUp, who is quite experienced in handling popular registrations such as this one, and we are confident that last year's glitches will not recur! For faster registration, it is recommended that you join RunSignUp prior to registration. You do not need to be a member of GLIRC to join RunSignUp. Every GLIRC member who has volunteered at six events between March 1, 2016 and October 16, 2016 will be entitled to a guaranteed registration. If you are one of those dedicated volunteers, you will be formally notified by email no later than October 18th; if you are notified that you are entitled to a guaranteed registration, please do NOT register now online. Recipients will receive instructions from GLIRC on how to register for the race after October 22nd.
If you deferred your 2016 registration to this year, do NOT register now online. You will be notified by email that you are one of these recipients and that you have a guaranteed registration. Recipients have received instructions from GLIRC on how to register for the race.
We plan to host three Brewery Training Runs in advance of the main event on January 14th. An additional 10 registration guarantees will be raffled off at each of the three Brewery Training Runs; these are not free entries, but only guaranteed. They are transferrable by the winners. Winners will receive instructions from GLIRC on how to register for the race. The three Training Runs will be held on Thursday evening, November 17th, Thursday evening, December 8th, and Thursday evening, January 5th.
REMEMBER: Entries will only be accepted from runners who will be at least 21 years old by January 14, 2017.
NOTE: If you have entered the race, and it later turns out that you cannot run for any reason, your entry can be transferred to another runner by payment of a $25 transfer fee at any time up until January 7, 2017.
